Apology demanded from racist minister Jamaludin Jarjis!
****What more, when prime minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has called on all politicians to respect every decent Malaysian as a member of the large Malaysian Family.
If Jamaludin is truly a gentleman, he should apologise to Sheela for his slip of tongue.It has made the Malaysian government appear as one that mistreats Indian Malaysians who form 10 per cent of the country’s population.
As what I understand, Sheela Moorthy has made the complaint to the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and other related agencies, including the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassador of Malaysia to U.S., Consulate General of Malaysia in U.S. and the Commission of Human Rights of U.S. Sheena is currently trying to gather the signatures of all students there.

Datuk Sri,
I, Sheena Moorthy, a 3rd year Biotech Malaysian student in CALPOLY would like to submit a formal complaint against our Minister of Science & Technology, YAB Jamaluddin Narjis. I would like to bring to your attention the following incident which was totally uncalled for from the minister.
Date: 30th April 2007
Time: 6.30pm
Venue: Belacan Grill Malaysian Restaurant, Redondo Beach, Ca
Minister of Science, Dato Jamaluddin Jarjis was here on an official visit. He wanted to meet some of the Malaysian students studying in California especially the ones from TPM Academy twinning programme. During the 3 ½ hour session, he passed a few racial remarks on me, being one of the two Indians present there.
Incident 1 - Each student had to briefly introduce themselves. When it came to my turn, while speaking he interrupted me and asked if I knew Samy Velu, because he knows him. I don’t see any relevance in that and he mentioned it a few times for no apparent reason.
Incident 2 – He gave a speech regarding how agriculture started in Malaysia. He mentioned how the British invested in Malaysia and made farmers work. Due to the lack of work force, “buruh India” was brought in. While mentioning this, he looked at me saying that’s how we get Indians in Malaysia.
Incident 3 – After saying he is going to get MARA to help the Bumiputra students, he looked at me and asked “How many Indians are here?, I don’t have and don’t keep track of number of Indian students here so I mentioned that “In this room, there are two (pointing to my another Malaysian Indian friend, who is fair skinned) and J.Jarjis looked at him and asked “Oh. You are an Indian”, which means you are an upper class Indian and she is the lower class one (pointing at me). He went on to say that, “Oh, I am not going to help upper class Indians, I only help to lower class ones. They are the ones that need it’. I left the room feeling very insulted.
Basically he judged me based on my skin color.
Being a Minister and respectable figure, these statements that he mentioned was unethical and biased. This happened in front of a crowd about 100 people. Being a true Malaysian at heart, and being taught not to discriminate among races especially in Malaysia, I feel humiliated as well as insulted by these racial remarks.
I demand a public apology from him because he does not have a right to judge me nor pass any remarks to me.
Also, I would greatly appreciate if you could kindly review his performance and take appropriate action to mitigate another unwanted racial remark, insults and shame to our country from this minister.

Its very simply to handle this social discrimination, Please dont vote for Barisan National next 3 elections. Vote for any opposition parties let it be PAS or DAP or Keadilan. I guess its time for all minorities to support these parties. I am sure Barisan National NEVER BOTHERED to protect minorities rights since what ever they do , WE are still going to vote for them!

Dr Sheela demanded for the apology, she deserves it, agreed. The minister apologized, it worked, great.
Now when are we Indians gonna stop discriminating each other with the caste system that WE invented thousands of years ago? The minister offended us, yes, but look from the other perspective, he merely mentioned what we’ve been practicing over the year, sad to say till today. We should open our eyes to prevent racial insults like this. But his actions were purely unethical. And i’m not declining that.

This incident never been reported on Malaysia local new papers and i wonder why. And today, the UMNO chief asked the Malaysians to not to belief solely what written on the blogs. Obviously someone is trying to keep “Malaysians bawah tempurung”.
The truth must be unveiled and this minister needs to be punish if proven to make such nasty statement. It’s a disgraceful behavior and public apology is a must.
That’s the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard from a Minister! Goes to show that Ministers who think like him should be removed from government seats as he doesn’t uphold our laws of racism! Even with his apology, it doesn’t really make a difference as his apology should be made by him in person and not thru an aide and made in front of all the citizens of Malaysia especially the malaysian indians and more importantly in front of the 100 odd people that were gathered at Calpoly California with Sheela there as well!

What Jamaluddin Jarjis did was very unethical. Talking a bout something that is already quite sensitive amongst Indians. Although we are a minority, the Indians are contributing a substantial amount to Malaysia’s economy growth.
How would good professional like Dr Sheela or Sheena return to Malaysia and serve this country. It is about time the Malaysian leaders learn how to instil patriotism amongst Malaysians in a positive manner.
Incidence like this will erode patriotism which will have a far reaching negative effect on the country as a whole. To instill patriotism please treat all races with equality (like in Singapore). Malaysia should learn from our Singaporean neighbours.
This should be a lesson to all Indians especially those educated one…..don’t vote for the party but for the person standing for election. Secondly do not give up your voting rights, please exercise your right. Thirdly, evaluate the candidate standing for election in your constituency. Lastly if you are an Indian where JJ is a candidate, never vote for him….we do not need racist leaders in Malaysia. They are the main reason there is so much of racial tension in this country.

The statement made by the minister shows how informed are our politicians in general knowledge….south indian who are fair skinned have got a darkened complexion over the years due to climatic condition in India especially in the south..it has nothing to do with racial superiorrity !!!! If you dont believe and if you are dark just try to live in country like russia or canada for 1 year and then look at the complexion of yours……

From a man who gets free trips to US , to Russia, Ukraine etc. for dining purposes ( officially to meet with students bla bla) & space travel ( Officially angkasawan and to improve science interest), this is not unusual. He is a racist. And i think we should not be racist to equate him ( and his lack of mental power and dignity) to his race.
